3 hours

Easy

Looking for a midnight sun activity? Hike an extinct volcano with a geologist!

Still feeling spry to see some of Iceland after dinner? Want to take advantage of the long midnight sun evenings? Book a short hike near Reykjavik with a local geologist and get all your questions answered about Iceland's geology, the history and science of the area, and the volcanoes that dot the region. Get picked up in town and visit a local nature reserve that houses some extinct volcanic craters to hike some easy trails. A great option when the sun is out at night and the northern lights are not out yet.

The hike is roughly 5 km and traverses past old lava flows, caves, archeological remains, and volcanic craters. This is your easy, quick chance to book a private tour with a knowledgable, local geoscientist who is intimately familiar with the natural history and volcanology of the area.
